Texans will always wake up early in Hawaii. Even if you are not a morning person, you will be ready to leave the hotel room at 6:00 am. Blame it on the 5 hour time difference.
The only people up this early in Hawaii are divers, cyclists, runners and Texans.
So yesterday we got an early start and headed to Big Beach. Big Beach may end up being our favorite Maui beach, but it is only the second day.
We also went to Wailea, Polo and Maluaka beaches. Several giant resorts funnel their guests onto Wailea Beach. It's right out their front door! And there is a boardwalk that gives several other large resorts easy access. It's not that big of a beach and so was overcrowded.
Polo Beach was one beach over, right in front of the Fairmont Hotel. But it didn't seem crowded when we went. It's very small with easy beach access.
Maluaka Beach was south of the first two and less commercial. Parking is right Dow the road. Not many people on this beach either. In fact were headed back for snorkeling this morning.
We did see a catamaran drive up on shore and pick up about fifty people on the beach. I'm guessing it was a sunset cruise. They were all dressed nicely, but had to run through waist high waves to get on the boat. They were all soaked. I wouldn't want that to be my sunset cruise!
